Former president Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday blamed
‘inadequate education in the North’ among other factors for the Boko Haram
insurgency.
He also cited failure of leadership and unemployment among
the internal remote causes of the insurgency as well as the external factor of
fall-out from the fall of Gaddafi of Libya which released armed groups he was
training to wreak havoc in Nigeria and other parts of Africa.
Obasanjo who was speaking on BBC Focus on Africa programme
also described Boko Haram’s demands as ‘unattainable’ because no particular
religion can be imposed on Nigeria as a whole.
